A virtual telephone system (PBX) is a software-based telephone system operated locally within a company or in a data center (cloud). In the case of a cloud-based PBX, a distinction is made between a hosted PBX, where there is one installation per customer, and an IP Centrex, where there is one installation for multiple customers. The connection of IP-enabled end devices is established via the network or the internet.
